The role of CCUS in decarbonising cement production
Due to urbanisation and population growth, we construct built environments that are the equivalent of New York City every month.
To decarbonise this process, we must first focus on operations, including the manufacture of cement. Holcim has two key approaches: reducing CO2 emissions, and Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technology.
Differences in local conditions means there is no “one size fits all” CCUS pathway. Solutions must be tailored based on the site and local regulations, but they can still be delivered in a cost-effective and scalable manner.
