CEO, The Sustainable Markets Initiative
As a Strategic Delivery Partner to the COP28 Business and Philanthropy Climate Forum, the Sustainable Markets Initiative is helping to bring together 1,000 global business leaders and philanthropists. RE:TV will be there filming interviews for our daily show RE:TV@COP.
Here, Jen selects five RE:TV films which reflect the work of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, showcasing the extraordinary transformation happening around the world to address the climate crisis. Jen is the first of five inspiring women drawn from across the world of climate solutions, science, art and activism who have curated essential-viewing playlists in the lead up to COP28. Sourced from across RE:TV, the selection celebrates essential stories of hope, optimism and positive transformation – showcasing signals of change and hope that others can learn from and scale.
This film was made for the launch of RE:TV in 2020 when the King was still Prince of Wales but it continues to resonate. His words – as ever - are a powerful reminder of not just the not just the need for action to protect the environment, but also the huge potential of nature and human ingenuity.
Part of the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Agribusiness Task Force, McCain is leading the way in regenerative agriculture with their Farm of the Future project. This film shows how science can work in harmony with nature to develop inspiring innovations in response to the climate and biodiversity crisis.
AECOM was one of the recipients of the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Terra Carta Seal last year and helped set up its Measurement and Transparency Task Force. This project in the Scottish Highlands is a fascinating insight into how we can measure the impact of restoration on a specific ecosystem.
Lanzatech’s CEO Jennifer Holmgren is a long-standing friend of RE:TV and the Sustainable Markets Initiative. She appeared at our CEO Summit in 2022 and was recently named on the inaugural TIME100 Climate list. This film explores how Lanzatech converts captured carbon into Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
The Tyre Collective was one of the four winners of the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s first Terra Carta Design Lab which has returned this autumn to become an international collaboration. Their solution to the problem of tyre dust is a great example of the cross-sector collaboration and innovation we need to get ahead of the curve.
