Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
Restoring wetlands through investment in natural capital
As well as being among the most biodiverse ecosystems on earth, healthy wetlands protect us from flooding, help clean water of pollutants, and sequester significant amounts of carbon. But these unique ecosystems are under threat across the world – over the past 300 years, a staggering 87% of the world’s wetlands have been lost.
The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity which is campaigning for the creation and restoration of 100,000 hectares of wetlands across the United Kingdom. This includes working in partnership with the Blue Recovery Leaders Group, a selection of investors and stakeholders from the private and public sectors.
To achieve this ambitious target, WWT is unlocking investment opportunities to protect and expand on the natural capital that wetlands provide, encouraging private sector support for this highly effective nature-based solution to many of the most pressing problems we face today,
