As Policy Manager at the Centre for Net Zero (founded by Octopus Energy), Andy Hackett works to ensure its research brings about real-world change for the future energy system.

He was a civil servant for 9 years, most recently in the government’s Net Zero Strategy team as Head of Net Zero Pathways. This included setting the UK’s sixth carbon budget in law, developing decarbonisation pathways for the government’s Net Zero Strategy ahead of COP26, and applying systems thinking to policymaking across government.
