A review of Hilton’s waste reduction goals and progress
This fact sheet provides an overview of how Hilton are reducing waste across their group of hotels in three key areas: soap, single-use plastics, and food waste. As of 2019, the group had diverted 35% of the waste in their managed hotels from landfill.
By 2030, Hilton’s goal is to reduce food waste in their managed properties by 50%, improving and expanding the practices with which they have already found success, such as measurement technologies, composting, and food donation programmes. They have utilised the ‘Hotel Kitchen’ toolkit in their efforts, which guides hotels through different techniques to reduce food waste across the entire food and beverage process.
